"You Don't Mess With the Zohran" Navy Tee

The Design

We were inspired to create this lighthearted but bold shirt to help show our support for New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani's community-driven mission to make the world a better place for everyone. We like to think of it as "activism for your everyday wardrobe."

Why Mamdani?

NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani has already shown himself to be a visionary who is willing to challenge the status quo. In less than a year--among many other achievements--he's already closed a $12 billion-dollar budget gap, made universal child care a thing, and is providing food for homeless people AND pets alike at NYC food pantries. Importantly, we think Mamdani is especially rare amongst politicians because he seeks to unify, not divide. Whether you live in New York or not, it seems like the principles of his platform will help make the world a better place for both rich and poor, not just one party or the other, so we can definitely get behind that. It's about time that a politician emerged who was worth admiring--one who actually enacts positive change for the people, and doesn't just talk about change--so we figured the least we could do was to make a T-shirt to help celebrate him.

What is "The Lynx Agenda"?

Once upon a time, a feral cat decided to move into our yard. She was truly wild, and desperately afraid of everyone and everything. She had a hunted, harried look in her eye as she would furtively scurry from bush to bush, never daring to linger in the open. Because she happened to look exactly like a miniature lynx, we decided to call her...."The Lynx." We started leaving food out for her twice a day, and as days became weeks, the starving cat started showing up twice a day like clockwork to gobble her meals before disappearing into the brush once again. As weeks became months, we noticed that she started casually staying out in the open for longer and longer periods of time between meals, cautiously observing us. As months became years, she eventually became more relaxed, and more confident, even sauntering around our yard with her tail straight up. She actually started to feel safe, because she didn't have to fight for survival anymore. We made absolutely sure that nothing ever came into her yard that could disturb or threaten her, and in turn, she became our constant companion whenever we were outside. Her daily schedule now consists of breakfast, lots of pets and brushing, calmly strutting around her yard like the queen that she is, rolling around in the grass, sleeping upside down in the sun, dinner, more pets and brushing, and then sitting by our side at all hours of the night, just existing, for seemingly no reason other than because she likes to be near us. She is completely free to come and go as she pleases, and although nothing physical binds her to us, she still willingly chooses our company every day. We think that this is what true freedom looks like, and that this freedom is a right that all people should have throughout the world: the right to come and go as they please, the right to have sufficient food and healthcare, and the right to live in peace. Thus, we were inspired to create the "The Lynx Agenda" as something we can all aspire to.

Is this a charity?

Sort of. When you buy this T-shirt, a portion of all proceeds will be donated directly to Mamdani's mayoral campaign headquarters. But we are not an official 501c(3), so your purchase is unfortunately not tax-deductible...yet. We're looking into it.

The tubular, side-seam-free construction gives it a clean look, while the ribbed collar and shoulder taping help the shirt retain its shape. Each tee includes a comfortable tear-away label.
